S36NZ-Okh is the solo project of the St. Petersburg-based musician, painter and illustrator Kirill Rozhkov, also known for his joint work with Alexander Lebedev-Frontov in T.A.U. and Stalnoy Pakt projects. Two previous S36NZ-Okh albums were released by the Ultra label in 2000 and 2002 and the material for the third album "Meditzina Katastrof" was recorded in 2003-2004 and kept in archive for ten years waiting to be released.

As the title suggests ("Medicine of Disasters" as translated from Russian) the album is dedicated to the medical theme, particularly to medicine as a tool for healing social problems: anthropogenic, biological and other disasters, although practically useless in our reality. Musically this is a saturated mixture of dark electronics and dramatic old school industrial. Each composition is a separate story filled with tangible cinematic images. Every track features exclusive samples such as the fragments of correspondence of a German cannibal with his victim eaten in parts by mutual agreement, or a functional description of a "Snegir'" onboard recorder from the "Kursk" submarine, etc. All this is skillfully combined with industrial noises, sound loops, synthesizers and electronic rhythms making a solid collage filled with a sense of collapse of the modern social model, fatigue and the impending doom of humanity.

S36NZ-Okh - сольный проект петербургского музыканта, художника и иллюстратора Кирилла Рожкова, известного также по сотрудничеству с Александром Лебедевым-Фронтовым в проектах T.A.U. и Стальной Пактъ. Два предыдущих альбома S36NZ-Okh выходили на лейбле Ultra в 2000 и 2002 гг., а материал для третьего альбома "Meditzina Katastrof" был записан в 2003-2004 г. и десять лет пролежал в столе у автора, дожидаясь своей участи.

Как следует из названия, альбом посвящён медицинской тематике, точнее, медицине как инструменту исцеления проблем общества: техногенных, биологических и прочих катастроф, практически бессмысленному в наших реалиях. С музыкальной точки зрения нас ждёт насыщенная смесь мрачной электроники и драматического индастриала старой школы. Каждая композиция - это отдельная история, наполненная осязаемыми кинематографическими образами. К каждому треку подобраны свои эксклюзивные сэмплы, например, фрагменты переписки немецкого канибала со своей жертвой, съеденной по частям по обоюдному согласию, или описание работы бортового самописца "Снегирь" с подводной лодки "Курск", и т.д. Всё это мастерски сочетается с индустриальными шумами, звуковыми петлями, синтезаторами и электронными ритмами, составляя единый коллаж, преисполненный ощущением краха нынешней общественной модели, усталости и обречённости человечества.

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me.
