Almost 10 years have passed since the release of the last album of the St. Petersburg project Vetrophonia "Formula of War" (Der Angriff, 2011). Of course the duet of Alexander Lebedev-Frontov and Nick Sudnick hasn't been idle all this time: they recorded and released the soundtrack to the movie "A Page of Madness" (Zhelezobeton Film, 2014), the multimedia compilation "Vizualizacija" (Ultrasomnambula U, 2017) and the "Russian Universal Robots" EP (Zhelezobeton, 2017), not taking into consideration multiple solo ventures of both musicians – but the truly new full-length audio work is being released only now.

"Dadacacophonia Dao" was recorded over three years: from 2017 to 2020, and unlike many other recordings of the duet it's not really a conceptual work. In its form, it is a complex collage of a great number of sounds: samples, percussion instruments, fragments of TV and radio programmes, musical pieces and anti-musical noises varying from subtle yet annoying crackles to blustering industrial clatter. Like always with Vetrophonia, all this is composed utterly meticulously, thoughtfully, and spiced up with peculiar humour. This album isn't easy for listening, yet it will surely reward a curious listener with its uniqueness.

Вот уже почти 10 лет прошло с момента выхода последнего альбома петербургского проекта Ветрофония "Формула войны" (Der Angriff, 2011). Конечно, всё это время дуэт Александра Лебедева-Фронтова и Николая Судника не сидел без дела: были записаны и выпущены саундтрек к к/ф "Страница Безумия" (Zhelezobeton Film, 2014), мультимедийный сборник "Vizualizacija" (Ultrasomnambula U, 2017), а также миньон "Русские Универсальные Роботы" (Zhelezobeton, 2017), не считая многочисленных сольных записей обоих музыкантов, но по-настоящему новая полноформатная аудио-работа выходит только сейчас.

"Дадакакофония Дао" записывалась в течение трёх лет: с 2017 по 2020 гг. и в отличие от многих других записей дуэта не является строго концептуальной работой. По своей форме это сложносочинённый коллаж из множества звуков: сэмплов, перкуссионных инструментов, фрагментов теле- и радиопередач, музыкальных кусочков и антимузыкальных шумов от тихого, но назойливого треска до буйного индустриального грохота. Как всегда у Ветрофонии, всё это собрано чрезвычайно кропотливо, продуманно и приправлено своеобразным юмором. Альбом непрост для прослушивания, но, несомненно, вознаградит любознательного меломана своей необычайностью.

I cannot praise this album enough. This album is absolutely terrifying! The many starts and stops creates this very h settling tension. Each start expands on the stopper idea previously. It’s like the music equivalent of walking through thick fog while passing out multiple times throughout trying to find a place to orientate yourself. There may or may not be something sinister in that fog, but you don’t want to stick around to find out. Bought the vinyl so I summon the fog demons through spe showhornwithteeth
