The series of archive recordings "Znaki / Die Zeichen" continues! The labels kultFRONT and ZHELEZOBETON present its fourth installment – the collection of compositions of the St. Petersburg-based noise project Kryptogen Rundfunk, recorded in 2003-2006. Most of these tracks were released on small-edition compilations of the same time, but some of them remained unpublished until now.

This album offers a fresh look at the early period of Kryptogen Rundfunk’s sound in all its diversity. Sharp injections of digital glitches are polished by dense electronic drone and radio noises, raw sound of Soviet analogue synthesizers pervades the space with low-frequency vibrations, drum machines rumble in a slow industrial dance with a sampler used instead of a vocalist... The textures of the tracks vary from dark abstract drone ambient to edgy dashing noise, sometimes passing the stage of funny delusional rhythmic sketches. Each composition here is a separate short story, from a 12-minute immersion into the depths of radio waves on a psychedelic submarine to a 1-second collage made of several found sounds.

Traditionally for the "Znaki" series the artwork was created by the media artist Oleg Paschenko (humanimalien.ru). Based on the cover design, a small edition of Kryptogen Rundfunk’s t-shirts has also been printed. The t-shirts are made of premium quality “penye” fabric and are available in all sizes between XS and XXL.

Серия архивных записей "Знаки / Die Zeichen" продолжается! Лейблы культФРОНТ и ZHELEZOBETON представляют её четвёртую часть – собрание композиций петербургского шумового проекта Kryptogen Rundfunk, записанных в 2003-2006 гг. Большая часть этих треков в своё время выходила на малотиражных сборниках этого периода, а некоторые вещи так и оставались неопубликованными до нынешнего дня.

Этот альбом позволяет посмотреть свежим взглядом на ранний этап звучания Kryptogen Rundfunk во всём его многообразии. Острые уколы цифровых помех заполированы густым электронным гулом и радиошумами, сырой звук советских аналоговых синтезаторов пропитывает пространство низкочастотными вибрациями, драм-машины рокочут в неспешном индустриальном танце с сэмплером вместо вокалиста... Текстуры треков меняются от тёмного абстрактного дроун-эмбиента до резкого забористого нойза, порой минуя стадию бредово-забавных ритмических зарисовок. Каждая композиция здесь – отдельная небольшая история, от 12-минутного погружения в толщу радиоволн на психоделической подводной лодке до 1-секундного коллажа из нескольких найденных звуков.

Традиционно для серии "Знаки" дизайн обложки создал медиа-художник Олег Пащенко (humanimalien.ru). По мотивам оформления небольшим тиражом также выпущена футболка Kryptogen Rundfunk. Футболки пошиты из высококачественной ткани "пенье" и доступны в размерах от XS до XXL.

❤️My original plan was to go through and buy individual tracks like I do with most compilation albums, but honestly there are just so many good ones that I wound up buying the whole thing. More than simple drones (though there are plenty of those, too), this album collects many of the best and most innovative dark ambient artists in one place, including many who are new to me.
